History of Belvedere Sailing Society
The Belvedere Sailing Society was founded on December 2, 1949, by Belvedere residents to encourage social and water activities on the lagoon, promote friendships, and foster a sense of community for the enjoyment of all residents in Belvedere. This vibrant community organization has endured over the years thanks to the dedication of volunteers. The center of activity is the Mann boathouse at 50 Lagoon Road, which was dedicated to Sam and Bea Mann in 2010 in recognition of their lifelong volunteercommitment to the BSS. Lido racing takes place on summer Sundays, followed by a post-race party for Lido members, while Lasers racing occurs on weeknights during the summer months. Recently, stand-up paddleboarding has been organized as an annual event. The social calendar includes three annual parties organized by the Commodores, held at the Mann Boathouse or private residences.
No BSS membership automatically provides access to the private lagoon waters or allows for equipment storage at the boathouse. Members in good standing can inquire about storage availability.
